Handling Tips
To retain the quality of your Pro Racing Fuel, you should place priorities on safe and proper handling. For a complete listing of safety guidelines, please refer to the MSDS for the fuel you are using.
- Avoid skin contact. Do not use racing fuels as a solvent for cleaning parts.
- Do not remove the hazardous warning label from the fuel drum.
- Drums containing racing fuels are not suitable for any other application except racing fuels until that drum has been properly reconditioned.
Storage Tips
To preserve the light ends of Pro Racing Fuels and maintain good throttle response:
- Store your fuels in a cool environment to preserve the integrity of the product.
- Direct sunlight will cause racing fuel to deteriorate.
- Minimize transfers from one container to another to avoid leaving light ends (vapors) in different containers.
- Keep both containers cool that will be involved in fuel transfer to further limit the loss of vapors.
- Keep storage containers and gas tanks capped at all times to minimize opportunities for vapor loss.Remove pumps when not in use and reinstall Caps on drums securely
My engine was designed to run on leaded fuel; would your fuel hurt or damage my motor?
- No, the correct grade of PRO Racing Fuel will not damage any gasoline engine. Engines need octane and erosion protection for exhaust valves and seats. PRO Racing Fuels provide both.
Do I need to lubricate my valve train and rings?
- No, PRO Racing Fuels contain a multifunctional lead substitute, which puts a tough lubricating film on combustion chamber components.
Will your fuel mix with other gasoline?
- Yes, PRO Racing Fuels will mix with other brands of race fuel, or with pump gas, though this may dilute the performance qualities of our fuel.
I run leaded fuel in my race car. What do I have to change in my motor to start using your fuel?
- Unless you have pre-1970 parts in your motor, no changes are necessary. For peak performance with carbureted engines, a slight enrichment may be advisable.
Everybody knows you need lead to make horsepower. How you can do it without using lead in your fuel?
- What you need to make power is a high heating value and high octane. Lead is a "shortcut" to high octane, but PRO Racing Fuels provide up to 116 octane without lead.
